Department Library of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology to Close Permanently (Update)
The Department Library of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (Building 12) will close permanently to the public on 3 August 2026. From this date onward, the individual and group study spaces located there will no longer be available.
As an alternative, users are encouraged to make use of the study spaces in the nearby Department Libraries of Biology (Building 14) and Computer Science (Building 36). In addition, all students are welcome to use the study and work spaces available at the University Library's other locations on the Kaiserslautern and Landau campuses.
Access to the Print Collection from 3 August 2026
The print collection will remain accessible. Until further notice, the following arrangements apply:
Borrowable Media
Borrowable media can be ordered via Katalog+. They will generally be ready for pickup at the Central Library (Building 32) within two business days. You will receive an email notification as soon as your order has arrived. Collection and return are possible during the Central Library's service hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 - 16:30.
Current Journal Issues
From 3 August 2026, the current issues of print journals will be available for on-site use at the Department Library of Computer Science (Building 36).
Bound Journal Volumes
Bound journal volumes that cannot be borrowed can be found via Katalog+ and ordered for on-site use at the Central Library. Please send your request, stating the journal title and the volume/year required, to ub-eit(at)rptu.de. Individual journal articles can also be ordered electronically via the University Library's free campus delivery service. For more information, see the page Campus Delivery Service – Order an Article from a Journal.
Further Planning
In the longer term, selected parts of the collection are to be relocated to the Department Library of Computer Science and made freely accessible there once again. We will provide updates once further details are confirmed.
