Library introduction and method training
Offer only for Kaiserslautern
School classes can get to know the University Library's services better as part of an introduction. For grades 10 to 13, the University Library also offers training courses on research and information skills.
Topics include
- Getting to know the university library
- Systematic listing of the collection
- Exercises for researching in the catalog and DigiBib (interlibrary loan)
- Databases and search engines beyond Google and Wikipedia
- Differentiation between keywords and subject headings
- Dealing with reference works
- Checking Wikipedia articles
- Distinguishing publication forms
- Checklist for creating a bibliography in Word
PC workstations are available for our courses in a separate training room. Pupils can try out the library catalog and other search tools for themselves. They are familiarized with the possibilities of obtaining information and learn different search strategies.
