Interesting facts for authors: Which Creative Commons license am I supposed to choose?

When submitting your article, select the CC-By license if possible, since it complies with the Berlin Open Access Declaration, the Budapest Open Access Initiative and the FAIR-Principles. Research funders like the DFG also recommend the use of open licenses in science.

Choosing licenses with NC-attributes (Non Commercial) including CC-BY-NC is not recommended, as they are considered too restrictive and may limit the free reuse of publications. The distinction between commercial and non-commercial are often fluid. For this reason, NC-licenses usually don’t serve the desired purpose.
