People with disabilities

The University Library makes it easier for people with disabilities to use the library.

Barrier-free access to the library

The Central Library, all departmental libraries and the University Library in Landau can be reached at ground level or by elevator, with the exception of the Business Studies and Economics Departmental Library (Building 42), the first and second floors of the Architecture, Spatial and Environmental Planning, Civil Engineering Departmental Library (Building 2) and the group study rooms of the Computer Science Departmental Library (Building 36), which can only be reached via the stairs. The library staff in the respective departmental library are available to help you use the library.

There is a disabled toilet in the Central Library in Kaiserslautern (Building 32, basement) and in the University Library in Landau (Building D, basement).

Barrier-free workplaces

In the Central Library (Building 32) and in the Departmental Libraries of Biology (Building 14) and Chemistry (Building 54) there is a workstation for people with reduced mobility. This is equipped with an electrically height-adjustable work table, which makes it possible to work in a wheelchair or while standing.

Use of the library

For students with disabilities (GdB at least 50%) there are modified lending conditions, which are granted on application and on presentation of the severely disabled person's ID.

For general assistance and support with literature research, please contact the Central Information Desk in Kaiserslautern (Central Library, Building 32, tel. 0631/205-3856, e-mail: ub-info-kl(at)rptu.de) and Landau (Building D, tel. 06341/280-31650, e-mail: ub-ausleihe-ld(at)rptu.de) as well as the library staff in the respective departmental library.
